While reading literature, I regularly see American papers citing American work, Europeans citing Europeans, and Asians citing Asians. Surely someone has once tested this idea -- meta-analysis, correlating authors' addresses with cited authors' addresses?

How to search for academics' consensus on a research topic you know nothing about: 1) Use scholar.google.com 2) find a relevant but old paper on the topic 3) click Cited By 4) Repeat #3 on the most highly cited, high-level paper result, until find a highly cited paper <5yo!
