So, this is the method I use to create courses directly in GameMaker, without modelling them in 3d modelling software. It's incredibly simple, and I can iterate very quickly by tweaking the path's shape. The code for this is about 25 lines.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates. I'm currently deciding between pre-baked ambient lighting, or dynamically adjustable ambient lighting. Here's the latter - as you can see, it'd be ideal for day-night cycles, but... that wasn't actually part of the original plan 😅

Okay, I'm really having a lot of fun with this. Seriously I could play this all day. I think I solved most of the force issues, also, the fact that the car naturally drifts away from the Apex of the corner due to centrifugal force was completely unintended. I wrote the code

Gameplay of "Ridge Racer," an i-mode port of the homonymous arcade game. It was preserved this past September. For a 2005 keitai game, it's graphically impressive! It runs too fast in the DoJa SDK emulator, so it's likely easier to play on original hardware.
