Cutting rates would be a horrendous decision, unless - of course - one’s a big fan of runaway inflation.

One could very easily argue that low rates accelerated wealth inequality. Inflation is also very likely to exacerbate inequality.

How would lowering short term rates boost housing? Mortgages are based on longer term. The Fed, once again, buying mortgages would help, though the Fed and federal government playing god in financial markets is what got us here.
