Bruno Kopp Bruno, let's not presume that all academics are seeking fame - especially ECRs who are just trying to stay employed. It's far more reasonable to attribute the problem to job scarcity, poor incentives/judgements of quality (n pubs, impact factors), and the publishers monopoly.
