I was thrilled to co-host this topical workshop with engaging speakers and an enthusiastic audience. There is clearly an appetite for more global cooperation on eDNA sampling; a regional Ocean Biomolecular Observing Network (OBON) hub for this biodiversity hotspot? This audience think so!

Such sad news, Paul was a statistics guru and didn’t shy away from any problem you could feasibly apply stats to. Even as a hard core marine ecologist he turn his hand to deciphering ecology through DNA. Above all, he was a thoroughly decent and funny guy.

It's #WorldMicrobiomeDay so we thought we'd share some illustrations from the 1838 atlas on 'infusionthierchen' by C.G. Ehrenberg. One of largest books in the library MBA - Marine Biological Association it highlights the variety of some of the smaller inhabitants of marine and freshwater environments

The new Marine Microbiome Centre of Excellence expands our state-of-the-art facilities to study marine microbial life in greater detail.

The Marine Microbiome Centre of Excellence is home to living marine microbiome collections - 392 strains of marine #phytoplankton and 420 strains of marine #fungi , with many strains unique to the MBA that have been collected from the waters around Plymouth to polar seas. #MBAMMCE
