Everyday for Black History Month, I’m dropping some of my favorite Black women in sports! Starting with Lisa Leslie. On July 30, 2002, Leslie became the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game! #HERstory #BHM

The first Black women to serve as an assistant coach at the Men’s DI level. Bernadette Locke-Mattox in 1990 at the University of Kentucky! #HERstory #BHM

The Houston Comets, Power 3 sheryl swoopes Tina Thompson Cynthia Cooper 4 championships in 4 straight years!! (and I have to throw in my own photo with one of the champs! The 1st WNBA draft pick Tina Thompson) They are currently all coaches at the DI Level #HERstory #BHM

Peak performance requires a balance of being serious and having fun. Try your best and play with discipline, but also have a positive attitude and play with joy.

Today we acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, the women that came before us & the young girls that are watching now! May we all continue to inspire one another.

Today we have CAROLYN PECK she became the first Black women to coach a Division I basketball team (Purdue Women's Basketball) to the national championship! & the first GM-head coach of the WNBA Orlando Miracle! #HERstory #BHM

Althea Gibson was an became the first Black tennis player to complete in the US National championship in 1950 & first Black to win a Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 1956 & 1957 (Doubles & Singles). #HERstory #BHM
