Dear Lord, watching and listening to the Bumbling Lump that is masquerading as President of the United States on #BBCNews is frightening. Since when has the pre-eminent democracy thought it okay to elect a person with the abilities of a Toddler to its leadership?

The older i get the more distasteful I find the blanket coverage of celebs and wealthy attending Ascot as "guests" of corporations and companies. Wearing designer clothes and items to be photo'd advertising brands whilst ordinary race fans pay huge sums to attend. Seems wrong

The Billionaire Media is pushing for Thames Water to be 'temporarily renationalised' at a cost to you of £21bn so billionaires don't lose a penny. I have a counter offer, make them go bankrupt, renationalise permanently for free.

From the 1950's to the 1970's the UK built 5 million council houses, these were built almost entirely by builders employed and paid by Local Government Authorities. It is what we need, no more middle men billionaire thieves, just the Government doing what needs to be done.

Don't you just love how the wealthy and priviledged ensure that "Ascot" is plastered over media and press as if it's a hugely important national, cultural event when it's just a bean feast of wealth, patronage and complete irrelevance to average working people?

Loved the Chris Patton interview on #TheNewsagents and his description of Nigel Farage as "the Pub Bore" who arrives in "red trousers and cravat" then loudly expresses his opinions by "holding court" whilst people take their leave and depart the bar! Perfect description.

The other great comment from Chris Patton in his #TheNewsagents Podcast interview was to ask "that" question? What does Putin have on Trump? History will eventually unearth it, but meanwhile, conjecture runs riot. Could just be a hidden bail out loan/gift or much worse. We'll see

Surely, even the most ardent anti-benefit "reformer" can understand that the clue to PIP is in the name. It's a PERSONAL (paid to an individual with a disability or restrictive life condition) INDEPENDENCE (paid to that individual to permit them to live independently) Simple!!

Amongst the plaudits for Netflix's Department Q and its cast it's been forgotten that Danish TV adapted the first books in the mid 20s with Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares leading the cast. Shown on BBC as part of the Great Saturday Night Scandi Crime Shows it was as a cracker!

Reform seem to think that an insurance based system will cost less than the NHS! They should go and speak to all the bankrupt people in America, ir people who have lost their houses. Madness

I understand that the RAF F35As will be committed to the Nato Nuclear Role and that refuelling will be available from Nato partners but I still have a niggling concern that in any UK Role it would present a potential problem. Future Tanker Drone solution?

Simple thought on matching the economic need of our country to the amount of income it generates. If there is a shortfall between income and expenditure there are two options. Cut spending or raise taxes. I said it was simple. Politicians can't do anything else. It's not possible

#G7andNatoStatement Kemi Badenoch should be drummed out of Parliament. She has nothing but vitriol, criticism, falsehoods and totally inaccurate opinions. I'm seething. She daily compounds the reasons why the Conservatives have lost the confidence of the British People.

When will the Labour Disability Reform Rebels admit, as is blindingly obvious, that maintaining or increasing benefits will require tax increases? The root problem with UK politics is that people want strong, effective public services but those must be paid for. Reality v Fantasy

In 1930’s Germany Hitler executed a programme of Nazi propaganda; gaslighting the nation. 2025, the British media are executing a prolonged programme of propaganda against Labour; gaslighting the nation. Fascism was not welcome then and it is not welcome now. Be vigilant.

Around 3/4 of people don’t want Reform in power. But the narrative is that they are unstoppable. First-past-the-post has warped British politics for far too long. Now it risks letting the extreme right win a majority. It needs to go. My latest Guardian column:
