If your physio tells you that heavy lifting with a bent back is bad for you… go find another physio! Progressive exposure to lifting in a variety of postures and positions is key to a strong robust and resilient spine! Weak things break! 😍

Important - a meta-analysis of 53 studies finds that resistance training not only boosts physical fitness in school-age kids but also enhances their cognition, academic results, and classroom behaviour. ( We need physical activity every day in schools secondary and primary )

High Levels Of Muscle Strength are associated with longer life spans. How to measure at home: The 30-Second Chair Test 1. Sit on a stable chair with arms crossed. 2. Stand up & sit as many times as you can in 30 seconds 3. See where you stack up. 4. Train accordingly.

‼️ Have you had a TKR? ‼️ Then I would really love to hear from you via the questionnaire 👇 I’m specifically looking at participation in cycling post-op, even if you are not a cyclist per se, your opinions are useful, as you may have used a bike for rehab. #tkr #tka #cycling

Changes in oestrogen levels influence tendon health, especially around the menopause. Now there's evidence that HRT may help pain and dysfunction.

Gym ball squats are underrated! They’re a great option to strengthen the quads and load the patellar tendon. Especially useful if working into hip flexion is painful e.g. during a standard squat.

I’ve often wondered if I’ve missed hip, pelvic, or femoral shaft BSIs in my patients, but a review of the literature suggests my theory that dancers don’t get more proximal BSIs, is probably correct (not including pars defects, just lower limb & pelvic)! A thread 🦴🩰 🧵 1/6
