Thank you to my friend, the wonderful drummer Adam Nussbaum for taking time between touring and his fortieth wedding anniversary celebrations (congratulations!) to discuss the incomparable Roy Haynes (RIP). Read it on ⁦⁦UK Jazz News⁩ ukjazznews.com/remembering-ro…

Since receiving an advanced review copy a few weeks ago, I have not been able to stop listening to this. McCoy, Joe Hen, DeJohnette & Henry Grimes sound unbelievable together! ‘Forces of Nature’ is out today. My full review for ⁦UK Jazz News⁩: ukjazznews.com/mccoy-tyner-jo…

This has always been the first Trane record I would grab in a fire bar none (in the original LP configuration, not the CD, which changed the program).

Super Sky Point to Rickey Henderson, the greatest leadoff man and base stealer to ever set foot on a baseball diamond. I’m stunned. Some guys seem larger than mortality. Rickey was one of them. #RIP

I'm really missing Martin Hummel Martin Hummel . His death, far too soon, is a huge loss for the entire UK jazz scene. I wrote about him for the German magazine Magazin für Jazz in 2021. In sadness. jazzthetik.de/kolumne-11-12-…

New acquisition, 1965. Never owned a nice copy but a current writing project required a close listen. Found a pristine copy on Discogs for a good price. By far the most rewarding late-Trane, aside from the sublime Interstellar Space, which as a duet LP inhabits a separate space.

It’s taken me a few days to process the sad news of Tony Bianco’s sudden passing. He was truly an unsung hero of jazz drums here in the UK. I hope I’ve done him justice with this tribute for ⁦UK Jazz News⁩: ukjazznews.com/rip-tony-bianc…
