A SIGHT project is a “feet on the ground” engagement that allow SIGHT groups to apply their unique skill sets to tackle complex local challenges and create positive social impact. SIGHT projects involve the local community, SIGHT members/Engineers local partners like NGOs.

SIGHT projects are driven based on the needs of the local community.

What are the elements of a successfully funded SIGHT Project? #SIGHTWeek2019

A successfully funded SIGHT proposal encompasses the following components: -Community: Clearly identified community needs -Partnership: Clearly defined roles and responsibility of the partners -Detailed solution development plan to meet the community needs

-Well defined project plan ( goals, deliverables, dates) and Budget -Clearly defined KPI/Metrics to measure the success of the project, -Volunteer engagement -Sustainability plan

#SIGHTWeek2019 A great opportunity to keep the SIGHT group active with more volunteer engagement

We held the Education Subcommittee pilot competition – 8 student groups participated with a solution to a sustainable development challenge in their local communities. IN addition, the HAC & SIGHT curriculum on sustainable development was launched on the IEEE Learning Network.

One of the key strategic goals in 2019 was to strengthen partnerships with IEEE societies and other IEEE programs in the sustainable development space. We conducted 5 major pilot projects and established the foundation needed to scale our partnerships in 2020 and beyond.

#SIGHTWeek2019 Involvement with partners like PES, IAS, MTTS, WIE, YP, EPICS, HKN are great opportunity for SIGHT members

Partnering with SIGHT is a win -win model since it (a) Enriches the volunteer experience, enabling the creation of a “multi-stage” community of locally-focused engineers to accomplish global impact

(c) Boosts member engagement, especially important with IEEE student members, which increases the likelihood that they remain an IEEE member after graduation
