Since 1670 the only undamaged right we have to be protected against an unthinking, overbearing state has been trial by jury. 12 ordinary folk can look at someone in danger of being speared by an insane prosecution and tell the state to take a running jump. No ifs, no buts. Fight.

I’ve been wondering why ALL the smellysocks are suddenly howling for wealth taxes. Could it just be , possibly, perchance, perhaps that they’ve maxed out all other sources? I’m afraid most success is measured by wealth, and if you cap success what will people strive for?

Political manifestos are carefully sprinkled with caveats and weasel words to give wiggle room later. “We didn’t say we wouldn’t tax teeth. Say Aah! while I find my pliers!”. But not so election flyers, posters and media soundbites. Where is the Advertising Standards Authority?
