Congrats to Thomson alumna Robin-Lee Francke on winning Vodacom Journalist of the Year for Live Reporting/Breaking News for her coverage of the missing child Joshlin Smith. Robin's powerful reporting continues to make an impact since her time on our 2019 summer school.

BREAKING: The #TFYoungJournalist of the Year 2024 is an Afghan woman reporter resisting Taliban restrictions and working in secret for The Afghan Times. Congratulations to her and to finalists Somaiyah Hafeez and Aisha, celebrated tonight at the Foreign Press Association in London Media Awards.

The 2024 Thomson Foundation Young Journalist of the Year has been forced to stop reporting in #Afghanistan due to increasing risks under Taliban rule. Her award-winning work for The Afghan Times spotlighted the stories of women and girls, reported in secret, at great personal risk.
