DSQL is really cool. Maybe if you need the scaling and have to pay for a distributed database (which is much more expensive), you shouldn’t be doing most of these anti patterns 🤷‍♂️

I started doing some higher level interviews at work, and I kind of expected to hate them, but I love exploring the edges of peoples knowledge. They all react so differently to this. Discussing hard problems is also so fun.

A LLM is to classic ML what a CPU is to an FPGA. Yes, your classification model is way faster and cheaper to run, but nobody cares.

Nothing more satisfying than it taking weeks to go up 5lbs in a lift. Incredible.

The interview cheat discourse is funny to me. At Shopify interviewees can use LLMs. It’s a skill you need. What’s crazy is my LLM skills have gotten so much better over the last year that my quality bar for “uses LLMs well” is so much higher than a year ago.

It’s insane working with o3 and o3-pro and just never being blocked on anything. Not just coding but anything in life. Fucking insane.
