Presto! Engine is in the chassis.

Successful day wrapped up. Got the engine and the transmission bolted together and into the chassis of the car. Now they’re out of my way and out off the elements. Now in the uphill battle with all the hundreds of small tasks that are in line before the car can even drive again.

This will be a nice place to be when I’m done.

Very little progress today. Tired from slamming this engine in yesterday. Got some small work done and a few parts installed. Also the suspension settled back down so the car is level again.

Another major hangup right now, is I’m missing one of the major three engine mounts. Probably going to have to drive four hours north tomorrow to get it from a junkyard far away, so it’ll be an eight hour day of driving.

This is what progress sounds like. Uneven cranking due to #1 spark plug being out to set up base timing. Even the radio work!

Small progress is still progress. Got the cars entire electric system working again. Removed the emissions control computer from the gone 1984 engine. This engine is a 1982 and doesn’t need any of that.

It’s been off the road without an engine since 2012. It’s only days away now from seeing pavement under its own power once again.

Progress is progress is progress progress. Had to drop the oil pan. It got damaged during the move. Just waiting for my magic sealant to dry and then I’m going to start the assembly. It’s basically a car again.

Tidied up my hoses and wires. Got the last of everything bolted into its place. If the carb shows up tomorrow or Saturday for me then I’ll be able to start the car and move it under its own power.
