We played the Haunted Roller Coaster Exit game tonight and really enjoyed it. Fairly easy, though we did use 1.5 hints. Clever puzzles. Perfect theme for tonight, & we finished at just over the hour mark. Definitely one of our favorites from the series so far.

My son had friends and/or cousins over for games twice this weekend. Among the games enjoyed: Point Salad, Megaland, Ice Cool, and Potion Explosion. Love seeing kids having fun playing games!

The The Five By podcast is a staple for me, and it seems like, lately, Sarah Ovenall is reading my mind in her segments. Between Lovelace & Babbage in the last episode and Fantastic Factories this week, she says everything I've been thinking about these recent games.

We had fun getting Roam to the table tonight. Easy to learn, quick to play, interesting decisions that change as the game goes on, and awesome frog coins. :) Looking forward to our next play and to incorporating the Gem Maps expansion!

It’s been a long, long time since we played Dominion, so we got it out tonight. Had a great time. I lost, of course, but that’s okay.

I thought listening to the Rolling Dice & Taking Names podcast while grocery shopping tonight would help me relax, as I'd be better able to ignore the chaotic holiday shoppers around me. But no. Descriptions of Vanessa's broken finger had me rather tense as I picked out baking supplies. :)

Played Azul Sintra for the first time in a long time tonight. As usual, the kid beat both of us. But at least we kept it close so he was a little nervous. Sometimes, that’s the best we can hope for. (PS I still love this game!)

Family game night (except also add in Silver & Gold). I won Wingspan, the teen won Point Salad, we all beat the 2nd scenario of Quirky Circuits, then my husband beat me at Silver & Gold. A well-rounded and enjoyable evening.

Today in math, we did tricky probability problems. 1 involved a 3-way paintball battle, & the best strategy for the weakest player. Took a while to work through prob of him winning, but Logan(14) knew the best strategy right away, due to regular reading of GameTek by Geoff Engelstein

My teen has been fairly meh about board games in recent months. But two that he has really enjoyed are Calico and The Search for Planet X. And I am MORE than happy to play these amazing games with him. Both are fantastic and fun. Even when he beats me.

I'm a little late to the game, but... Finally managed to snag a copy of Geoff Engelstein's Super-Skill Pinball. After just one solo game tonight, I can't wait to teach the family! I'm amazed at how much it feels like playing pinball, and I think they're going to love it.

Sleeping Gods is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve!

The teen and I learned Beez tonight. It played so quickly that we played 2 games in a row. It reminded us of Calico in a way -- the "how to play" is easy, but the "what should I do on this turn" is a lot more thinky. Overall, we enjoyed it and will def play again.
