Actually, neither has been kicked out of the party - that would have to be done by independent arbiters. But they have both had the whip withdrawn, in Starmer’s personal gift. He’s waiting for them to stand as independents, then he can kick them out for good.

In 1985, Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott boarded the Earl William in solidarity with Tamil refugees facing deportation. The deportation was cancelled.

40 years later, Starmer kicked Corbyn and Abbott out of the Labour Party.

Today, he welcomed Natalie Elphicke.

The ‘useless and unlikeable’ Corbyn was the first Labour leader in 20 years to gain seats in 2017. Interesting that in almost all the 52 seats lost in 2019, the Labour vote rose in 2017. What changed? It wasn’t the leader.
