MPs voted in favour of passing the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill for E&W to the next stage of the Parliamentary process. We are still concerned that the Bill does not currently require a holistic assessment of unmet need See our response shorturl.at/SRwr9

The Leadbeater bill does not allow hospices to opt out of assisted suicide. In Canada hospices are being shut down because they don't allow death within its doors. Expect the same in England and Wales soon.

Today Wes Streeting has shared publicly his concerns about yesterday's AD vote. I agree with every word. Each £ of money used to fund dying will be a £ removed from NHS & palliative care - which is already in desperately short supply for terminally ill patients. This is the care

I was in Newport earlier today for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Congress. The College has profound concerns about the role of psychiatrists on the #AssistedDying panels. It is absurd that they weren’t allowed the opportunity to give evidence to the Bill Committee.

On the day the Govt is deciding what to do with disabled people I’m attending an official function and the building is inaccessible . I’ve been asked do I need a ramp. Yes.

Thursday, the 10 year plan will be published. It must contain details about how palliative care will develop & be supported. We need specifics. Not lipservice. Let's see what we get.

Agree. Wes Streeting, Shabana Mahmood, Bridget Phillipson and Angela Rayner are doing an excellent job. Promote them, sack the idiots who voted for assisted dying. Sensible politics restored. Job done.

My lab’s 5-year NIH R01 grant, awarded to study gene therapy for hearing loss, was abruptly terminated. I want to share how this action has been incredibly harmful and disruptive, not just to my lab, but to the scientific process itself. 1/15

Huge depth of feeling here reflects catastrophically bad medical leadership in the UK for decades. Wes Streeting can't be blamed, but he has to come up with some solutions. Now.

Medical leaders who presided over doctor substitution and real terms pay cuts over the last decade are in no place to preach We have to value and give fair reward to the commitment and expertise of resident doctors - pay restoration is the minimum needed for this and for the

Just published: nature.com/articles/s4158… Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is critical for mitochondrial function and for controlling reactive oxygen species damage to biological membranes. Because CoQ10 is poorly bioavailable, new approaches are needed to promote CoQ10 synthesis. In our

Asked today whether I had brought my personal laptop to use on WRs when I was a resident. When I was a SHO, we had a telex machine in the doctors' office for results... The FY1 has never even SEEN a telex machine!

Rupert Beale (@bealelab) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Anger of resident (junior) doctors isn't fundamentally about pay, so not surprising a reasonable (not generous) pay offer hasn't averted strikes. Wes Streeting isn't to blame for this, but he will need to find solutions quickly. Suggest speak to academics (sidelined by the BMA).
