Hannah Dubney (MASLM student) was recognized for research excellence at the 2022 BC Protect Areas Research Forum. She was the inaugural recipient of the Pam Wright Award for excellence in social science research.

Congrats Cassandra Elphinstone (UBC), winner of the Tori Stevens Award for research excellence at the Protected Areas Research Forum. This is an acutely important issue for the future of parks, not least while we all, through #COP15 and otherwise, celebrate the myriad benefits of time in nature, and consequently see a growing number & diversity of park visitors. Most especially in urban adjacent parks.

And, it's so inspiring and comforting to have heard and learned from the next generation of parks leaders, like Hannah, at #BCPARF2022 this week. With these folx shaping the future, I'm confident it's bright - if not easy, acknowledgedly - for parks and people both.
