The maple tree was removed recently from the front left of #1 green to address shade issues. New fairway cut line established today. Sweeping contours wrap nicely around to the left and tie in with the green complex.

Fairway aeration underway by Hummer Turfgrass Systems, Inc. on a blustery March morning! Thank you Tyson and crew. Holes 1-11 completed today. Holes 12-18 scheduled for Tuesday. Practice range will remain closed on Tuesday until 3pm for aeration.

Welcome Philly PGA Chapter Spring Tournament which is today’s first official calendar event of 2022!

New for 2022 is additional divot mix boxes at your tees. Please replace the pelt on the tees as a first option. The box contains mix for irreparable divot pieces. Only 1 out of 17 divots were filled here. Please take ownership of your divot. 😁

The bluebird trail on the course this year so far has over 60% success rate which is excellent! The bluebird nests had 5 eggs, 4 hatchlings, and 13 fledglings. Special thanks to the volunteers from the Bluebird Society of PA for monitoring our trail! TheBsp.org

Day 1 Aerification - The CoreMax48 doing a fantastic job of organic matter removal with 5/8” hollow tines at 4” deep. Most importantly this hard working team of people in today’s 93 degree weather deserves all the credit. Thank you team for a great first day!

7-days post aeration and greens are healthy and recovering well. 8.5% surface area impacted and 100 tons of sand to fill the holes thanks to CoreMax48. Thank you for your patience during their recovery period.

The day got so much sweeter when my 10- year old showed up to help on July 4th. Exposure to this amazing industry can start at a young age. Course setup was cool but not nearly as much fun as turning on RainBird sprinklers! Women in Turf @EwingIrrigation

Now is a great time to begin seeding improved varieties of grasses in the rough that are more drought and disease tolerant. We are also incorporating an additional 4k sqft of Tahoma 31 Bermuda grass on the rear practice tee for faster divot recovery. Thanks to Hummer Turfgrass Systems, Inc. !

Aeration of the putting greens/approaches begins today-Thursday. A modified process this fall of 3/4” deep tining followed by 3/4” solid tining due to minimal labor. We will keep 9 holes open each day for play this week! Course will be fully open on Friday.

The replacement of the Club’s original irrigation pump station and fertigation from 1992 is currently underway! The pump station is contained in an underground building which complicates the project. Excavation and removal of soil occurring this week.Golf Water Watertronics

A bunker sand test meeting was held between both Golf and Green Committees to determine their sand of choice for next year’s renovation. Boxes built with 2.5” Capcongolf with 5 different bunker sands for testing all supported by our architect Andrew Green . Thank you Alan FitzGerald CGCS MG
