Here is my scientific update TED Talks of the state of the Planet. The planet is changing faster than expected, hitting harder on people across the world. We must admit we have underestimated risks. Tipping points are approaching fast. Window open? Yes go.ted.com/YvVKR

I reckon this one deserves an award for #greenwashing boll&cks. Take a close look at the small print on this tanker vessel. You couldn’t make it up 😩🙈👌🏽 ‘Environmental care with quality’ (Oh, and by the way, POWERED BY GAS)

Nice when a proper scientist comes along & says what you suspected was the case. Far too many people (including ecologists/conservationists) defaulting to this acceptance that we need to be planting eg. fir instead of doing everything we can to restore ecosystem functioning.

The wonderful moment when a Storm-petrel takes flight into the night after ringing. 202 birds ringed last night w/ Jógvan & Ewan Turner, and two British controls BTO 🌿😄 Have a listen to our latest podcast w/ Dr Will Leo Hawkes for more on this work! 🔗 open.spotify.com/episode/6gq1jv…

If anyone tells you species-rich hay meadows can’t be productive, show them this. Nine years into our restoration and we’ve had a record hay cut - 519 small bales from 3 acres (equivalent to about 43 big round bales) 🧵

Good morning from Nólsoy, where the sun has just emerged after one month 😆🌤️👌🏽 what a day though - here’s a view looking down onto the largest known colony of European Storm-petrels in the world, amongst the shattered basalt boulder field below… #fieldwork #faroeislands

First tag of the season retrieved!!! 😄🎉🌊 a very exciting moment indeed. The first incubation-stage foraging track to be recorded from a #Faroese Storm-petrel - worth all the immense effort that it takes! Fingers crossed for more now! SEAGHOSTS Rob Thomas

Welcome to this World little Storm-petrel. If you live to be one of the oldest of Stormies (33 yrs), I'll be over 60 when you're still fluttering over the wildest oceans on the planet. I really hope we can clean up this planetary mess for you in the meantime... #StubbornOptimism

Really exciting to get out to Koltur to deploy some GPS tags on Storm-petrels in collaboration with Tjóðsavnið (Faroe Islands National Museum). A very different island to Nólsoy, where the petrels nest in the stone houses and dry stone walls! Two tags deployed so far - two to go.

A rather ridiculous fluff ball happily sat with its parent in one of the natural nest sites on Koltur. Really promising to see many nests with chicks there today. Excited to return and try retrieving the 4 GPS tags next week! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼🌿⛰️ Rebecca Cheape Phoebe Owen

Just one of many superb studies presented at #CoimbraSeabirds this week - serious fomo not to be there, but happy at the compromise of being in a massive Storm-petrel colony. Looks like such a good event! Follow The Seabird Group for more 🌊
