I attended NHCMTC two weeks ago with several teachers and paraprofessionals from my district. On top of presenting, all the cool learning, and opportunities to meet with peers and vendors, Karyn and I both won a Christa McAuliffe silver dollar curtesy of NHSTE! Thank you!

Is VAASL involved or aware of this situation? @NHSLMA, more censorship issues demonstrate we need to keep educating our public about the critical role our school libraries play in fostering a culture of reading.

Absolutely terrifying! @NHSLMA, another reason to stay vigilant and actively protect the freedom to read!

Moultonborough is sending a team of five school librarians and paraprofessionals to learn new skills and strategies they can implement right away in their own libraries!

Thrilled to be presenting @NHSLMA’s annual conference in March! I’ll be talking about the state of digital books in NH, and Ross Perkins, PhD and I will also explore how NH school librarians perceive their roles as leaders within their school!

1/2 New Hampshire House Bill 514, currently being studied by the education Committee, seeks to remove legal protections currently enjoyed by all school employees that protect them from liability and arrest BEFORE something is deemed obscene by a court.

2/2 If passed as proposed, all people working in schools could be charged, arrested, and held liable for providing children access to obscene material BEFORE this material was deemed obscene.

School librarians, students, parents and communities at large are fighting back. Warrant articles proposed by petition seek to prevent book banning from occurring in their schools.

I can’t wait for the best professional development of the year for school librarians!

Can students sustain writing extensively by hand within the limits of a class period? I hand write a letter or two a week, and by the 3rd or 4th page my hand hurts enough I need to stop and pause. Producing a thoughtful handwritten text within a short period would be a challenge!
