I love the constant crossover of actors between British TV and film in the 1950s-70s. Just spotted Gareth Thomas, later famous as future rebel starship captain Roj Blake in the BBC'S Blake's 7, as a workman digging out a mutant skeleton in Hammer's 1967 Quatermass and the Pit!

My old friend and fellow lifelong Space Ace Andrew Lound has launched himself onto BBC Midlands this morning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 to the Moon! I'm very, very proud of all the work he and I did together. Go rocket man! 😎🚀🌗

We're saddened by the passing of Chris Kraft, our first flight director. He was a space legend who created the concept of Mission Control during the early human spaceflight program and made it an integral part of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. He was 95.
