Look at that sky! The Royal Pavilion was built for George IV, who first visited #Brighton in 1783, to ‘take the waters’. He liked the town so much he visited again, eventually buying a property on the Steine. After some (minor) adaptations, it became the palace we see today.

In February 1842, Queen Victoria & Prince Albert visited Brighton for the first time, staying at the Royal Pavilion. Victoria records in her diary how Albert loved the Pavilion, particularly the Banqueting Room & Music Room, which ‘was lit up, after dinner, & greatly admired.’
