Starting my 4th visit to Chad at the Sudanese border, where refugees fleeing an absurd war and vicious human rights abuses continue to arrive. It’s time for the parties to the Sudan conflict to put an end to it. Meanwhile refugees and their Chadian hosts need much more help.

Most refugees fleeing violence caused by the warring military in Sudan are women and children. Because of aid cuts we are giving them less food, shelter, water, medicine. I appeal to donors from the Chad/Sudan border: please do not reduce support to the victims of the Sudan war!

I was in Chad. I saw Sudanese refugees arriving, fleeing violence in Darfur. Unless efforts to bring the parties to the Sudan conflict to the negotiating table become serious, the humanitarian crisis will keep growing — as resources to support the response continue to decline.

A mother’s resilience knows no bounds. Radwa fled Sudan with her six children, losing everything while fleeing violence. Now, in Chad, she has turned hardship into hope, running businesses and helping others to start their own.

It is now one of the largest and most difficult humanitarian and displacement crises in the world. The world must #KeepEyesOnSudan. Enough.
