Sad news in from Kingston... Bunny Wailer - icon, legend, & last living member of the Wailers - has passed away this morning in his beloved Jamaica. The music world is a sadder place today. Condolences to his family, friends, fans, & colleagues. A true #ReggaeLegend is gone.😢

On this day in 1916, Ota Benga, an African native who suffered inhumane treatment by being kept in a zoo, committed suicide. He had been kidnapped in 1904 from Congo, and taken to America and exhibited at the Bronx Zoo with monkeys. Rest in Power.

Africans were kidnapped from Africa and brought to be exhibited in the human zoos and many of them died quickly. The Human Zoo died out after WW II. Oddly it was Hitler who first banned them. The last was in Belgium in 1958.
