Chemical/advanced recycling has always been a false solution  – now even the petrochemical industry admits as much! We need authentic solutions focused on reducing fossil fuel consumption instead of perpetuating business as usual. theguardian.com/business/artic…

Recently, the Biden-Harris Admin released a national strategy for ending plastic pollution. While this is a great first step, we must look BEYOND recycling to effectively address this urgent crisis. Read AMBR's reflections on the report: ambr-recyclers.org/2024/08/beyond…

As recyclers, we see deceptive recycling ALL the time! False labels create distrust in recycling systems & hinder real efforts to reduce waste. We are happy to see MN's successful lawsuit against Walmart & Heffy Bags for their deceptive labels! ambr-recyclers.org/2024/08/minnes…

ICYMI: Last week, we teamed up with Ocean Conservancy to host a webinar on authentic solutions to plastic pollution. In summary, while recycling is vital to a zero-waste future, recycling alone will NEVER solve the plastics pollution crisis. 👀👇 youtube.com/watch?v=p0GeTp…

A key point in zero waste system design is that we need truthful labels on packaging for compostable, recyclable, or destined for landfill. Many plastics aren't recyclable and shouldn't be misleadingly labeled as such. AMBR was happy to contribute to this important story.

AMBR is pleased to see the US shift its position on the Global Plastics Treaty by advocating for reducing plastic production instead of focusing solely on end-of-life waste management solutions. Plastic production IS plastic pollution. #INC5 reuters.com/sustainability…

Truth in labeling is essential to empowering consumers with the agency & info they need to help build a zero-waste future and trust the authenticity of our recycling systems. We must eliminate disingenuous marketing, and the FTC's Green Guides are a tool to do so! ⬇️👀

Their secret is out. 🤫 👀 Big Oil doesn't want you to know that plastics are their Plan B when fossil fuel regulation is on the horizon. In the past years, plastic production has increased tremendously, multiplying Big Oil's profit. 💰💰💰

When something is labeled recyclable, you might assume it can be recycled. Not so, at least for now. But the FTC's Green Guide updates could change that, unless the petrochemical & packaging industries get their way. Read more in our new blog! ⬇️ ambr-recyclers.org/2024/08/the-fi…

Did you know plastics make up only 20% of the recycling stream? The other 80% is mixed paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, and steel, which we have been successfully recycling for decades. ♻ Check out webinar to learn more: youtu.be/p0GeTp2AOao?si…

This is why we recycle—to keep natural resources in the ground! We cannot continue producing infinite amounts of plastic and expect a livable planet. ♻️🌍

CA's Rob Bonta's lawsuit against ExxonMobil drives home what AMBR advocates for. The petrochemical industry sold consumers on recycling as the solution to the plastics problem—it is not. We must first reduce, then reuse, and lastly redesign materials to be recyclable.

Great article from San Francisco Chronicle highlighting why so many plastics cannot be recycled: There are no markets for them. These plastics trash recycling systems and the planet. sfchronicle.com/climate/articl…
