Playing for a team that gives you the chance to develop confidence and play meaningful minutes >>> rushing to play at the highest level possible. I learned this the hard way... played in OHL at 16 and was released by 18 because I sat on the bench and had my confidence shattered.

My daughter, who also handles herself well on the ice, has encountered this so many times that she will likely not be back next year. The last time was U11 game!! Her friends who ref will tell you the same thing. Just not worth it.

Your coaches are watching you every day. This off-season will tell them a lot about who’s committed to improving/growing/working hard & who’s only interested when it’s convenient for them. There’re no secrets. You can & will only be great at what you’re willing to sacrifice for!

Everyone wants their kids to do/be well. We all want to help them succeed. Encouraging & supporting your child is one thing, but removing responsibility, fighting their battles & overprotecting them is doing them a lifetime of disservice. Enabling kids turns into disabling kids!

Pick a college where you can grow, thrive, learn. Make sure you can earn the degree you want. Be sure you’d still be happy there even if you got hurt & couldn’t play anymore. It’s also important to love the community, your coaches & your teammates. Find the school that fits you!

I can’t say to much cause I am Habs fan but watching this Toronto series is as good as consisintatly defeating EVH in hockey.

Nl Kids don’t get enough edge work.can never do to much.

It’s great to post “blessed to receive an offer” or make a college commitment, but don’t dare be satisfied or think you are already good enough. You’re not. It’s only the very beginning. It’s very competitive, not to mention an entirely different level than what you’re used to!

Observations From the Rink Players that hang on to pucks way too long in effort to showcase their puck skills and perceived poise with the puck, always end up over handling it, miss open teammates, open lanes and always skate into trouble #MoveThePuck

My Neutral Zone 1st star goes to Blizzard Edmundston prospect, the speedy RNS center Ryan Small. Ryan used his speed and great puck skills to pick up 2G and 1A, was skating the puck incredibly well up ice, winning faceoffs and finding seams all game. Great game.

Starting next season five teams; Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, Brooks, Blackfalds and Okotoks will be merging with BCHL teams. I’m curious if more join or what the AJHL will do? At some point Hockey Canada will need to work with these other leagues rather than against them.
