After Alice returned home & showered, she found Alex watching Elle play with toys from the couch, a loving smile on his face. She felt that pang of guilt once again, knowing what her final answer was.

She joined him on the couch and voiced her confession. "I think I need to go back to work." He nodded, relief washing over him. "I feel like switching roles might be best for all of us. Elle will be a happier child if her mom is happy."

They shared a smile and Alex pressed his lips against her head. In that moment, they unveiled a new adventure for their family. One where both parents thrived and where Ellaway would grow in an environment enveloped with love— no matter how it looked on the outside.
