Reminder that any major party’s leading spokespeople on any topic simply wouldn’t have that position if they weren’t happy to sell out their community for the party.

Some interesting thoughts, the current major parties clearly aren’t fit to govern. I’m particularly on board with point number 3.

Failing to answer 77% of calls when we are talking about people’s ability to eat, afford medicine, and keep the lights on is wildly unacceptable.

Cannabis prohibition is a failure that leaves our communities worse off. It’s well past time to take a better, smarter approach.

Government mandating religion is always a terrible, damaging idea. Religious observance should always be a free choice, nowhere more so than the chambers of power.

Wanting to make it illegal to expose government wrongdoing, not even criminality, just if it lessens the government’s reputation, tells you everything about how this government intends to behave.

What are the odds that all the people complaining loudest and hardest about Woolies not stocking Aus Day merch have never bought any in their whole life?

Anyone opposing an issue simply because it’s ‘divisive’ is also saying they oppose women’s suffrage, abolition of slavery, child labour laws, the federation of Australia, and democracy itself. All divisive.

Political Donations are poison to democracy. There are ways to do this right and ways to do it wrong, but a serious move to get rid of donations is exciting.

Wanting to force prayer onto people is always tyrannical and evil. It doesn’t matter how much you like your own chosen religious observances, making others subject to them is theocratic and inhuman.

Even if appointment processes like this happen not to be corrupt, that fact that they look corrupt is enough reason for them to be stopped. If it looks like the privileged are just scratching each other’s backs at our expense then trust is eroded.

A government budget surplus is a deficit for the rest of us. It doesn’t mean they’ve done well economically, it means they’re doing less.

I was really disappointed in the candidate survey responses for my local council. Every candidate on offer put in only vague, meaningless generalities. Nothing of substance or direction, just claiming that they would ‘listen to the community’.

NACC hearings need to be public by default. The best way to achieve this is to vote in more community independents so that they have balance of power in the next Parliament. The major parties don't want a NACC with teeth. I wonder why?

The Democrats offered more of the same, Trump offered change. When people feel that things are going badly staying the course is not attractive. The idea of a change can be more motivating than what the actual change offered is.
