The legislative filibuster does not protect us. It asymmetrically disadvantages Democrats. McConnell would have nuked it just like he did the SCOTUS filibuster if he believed such action would benefit Republicans.

Our government is designed to be slow, inactive, and nigh unchangeable. As it stands, it is basically an anchor on the will of the American people. Instead of having progressive taxation, abortion rights, and so much more, we have this entity stopping us. We need to change it.
