The sun was shining, the fans were buzzing and Wigan Athletic started the 2025/26 campaign with a win on the pitch - but the real magic started outside the stadium, where lots of planning and hard work came to life.

Our Outdoor Fan Zone was a hive of activity pre-match, bringing together food and beverage favourites from Haigh Foodie Friday, a live DJ Martyn Ode, children’s activities, face painting and even a pop-up retail store!

We celebrated Crusty the Pie’s 6th birthday in true Latics style! Joined by some of his mascot friends, we handed out birthday cake to the first 100 fans and hosted a pie-eating contest where one lucky winner took home a pair of signed Sam Tickle gloves.

With the early kick-off live on the DigiVan The Digi Van, we created a real festival atmosphere that set the tone for the day - and there’s no better feeling than seeing all the planning, logistics and hard work come together with smiles on faces and three points on the board.
