10 years ago today People's Majlis passed the RTI Act. Since then about 18,000 RTI requests have been submitted to public authorities. However very few public authorities are still fully compliant with the Act, specially in their proactive disclosure obligations.

A total of 413 appeals were submitted to @icom_mv last year. That's about a 23% increase from 2022. That also consists about 36% of the total number of appeals since the implementation of the RTI Act in 2014. In fact, 2/3rd of all appeals submitted to ICOM was in years ’22 & '23

2023 saw the number of RTI appeals/complaints submitted to @icom_mv surpass the 10,000 mark. The 10,000th case was submitted in August 2023 by Piko against the then Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment.
