Thanks to Better Bus we have bendy buses on U Street now and I’m still geeking out over it. Removing some closely-spaced stops along U Street also results in some pretty noticeable improvements in travel time.

Last night, the Commission approved a resolution calling on DDOT DC to study the adoption of bike-friendly speed humps, for a smoother cycling experience. We drew inspiration from the design in Portland, OR (Portland Bureau of Transportation), which includes narrow channels for bikes to pass through:

Today’s announcement that the fed govt will make use of MPD and deploy the National Guard in DC should concern not only the city’s 700,000 residents, but all Americans. Today our federal government seeks to interfere in DC’s local affairs, but any city could be next.

Republicans meddling in DC affairs are trying to take away speed and red light cameras (which catch people breaking the law and save lives) but are fine with illegal search and seizures that violate the 4th Amendment! This isn’t about public safety. It’s about power.

This is federal overreach and not making DC safer. It’s about power. It’s about instilling fear in cities. Our Ward 1 community is standing together & looking out for one another. The very heart & soul of our great city is at stake.

A Baked Joint is one of the most consistently busy cafes in the city - if rent is too expensive for them, what are we doing here? The city needs to start fining developers for vacant storefronts for this to end!!

D.C. has more residents than two U.S. states. They pay more per capita in federal taxes than any other state. But they don’t get a serious seat at the table to decide how they’re governed. D.C. statehood now.
