Many of you may remember the strange day a few years ago in the UK when sand from the Sahara desert fell on Britain in a rainstorm. I wrote this, quite quickly, at that time. Still think it has some mileage.

Aisha got a 6 at GCSE because she is so dyslexic and because GCSE doesn't give marks for work like this.

Final lesson with my lovely Year 13 class today. They made me this poster - 'Hunks of English Lit.' Yes MASSOLIT that's Professor John McRae. We love watching his videos!

If there was ever a performance that could be called iconic, it was Bernard Hill as Yosser Hughes.
The downward spiral of a man who had lost everything was emblematic of Thatcher's Britain of the 80's.

Bernard Hill was a class act. One of our best. Titanic, LOTR, Sunshine… what a legacy. My favourite will always be his performance as Joe in Shirley Valentine (honestly twitter gays, go and watch it!!). The fact you feel any empathy for this character is a testament to Hill.
