Sanderling at Holme Pierrepont today, always fairly distant, feeding around the far islands.

Came across this Short-eared Owl at Tollerton airfield a few days ago. Seen on Thursday evening but not since so seems to have been passing through.

Little Tern at Holme Pierrepont this afternoon, feeding on the A52 pit and spending a good amount of time resting up on Blotts.

The trent valley Ruddy Shelduck decided to give Holme Pierrepont a visit yesterday.

Two Black-tailed Godwits this lunchtime at Blotts pit, Holme Pierrepont.

Gull-billed Tern at Bassingfield this evening, well tracked down by Alan and Miles.

Whinchat is a bird I normally see as they migrate through Notts so it was great to see a few this morning on their Dartmoor breeding grounds. This male had a couple of juveniles in tow.

Two Avocets and four Black-tailed Godwits this lunchtime at Holme Pierrepont.

Black-winged Pratincole at Finningley. Eventually gave a few prolonged flight views after being hidden down in the grass for a couple of hours this morning. Certainly worth the wait!

One of three juv Cattle Egrets at Holme Pierrepont this morning. Adult also still present.

Beaver on the Otter in Devon yesterday evening, apparently July is a good month to see them and we weren't disappointed.

Dartford Warbler on heathland local(ish) to Dawlish this morning. Juveniles as well as this male present showing signs of a successful year.

Greenshank at Blotts Pit, Holme Pierrepont this evening. First of the year here for me.

Not the chat I was perhaps hoping for but very happy nonetheless to come across this Wheatear at Tollerton airfield this evening. Brown Hare also, normally too distant to photograph.

The Purple Heron at Exminster Marshes still present this morning. Flushed from canal and landed in a hawthorn giving good but distant scope views for a few minutes before dropping into a ditch.

Pleased to pick out this Curlew Sandpiper at Bowling Green Marsh this afternoon. An Osprey added to the entertainment, sending all the waders up at one point.

A bit of Autumn variety at Holme Pierrepont this evening with Whinchat and Wheatear (both site year ticks for me), Common Scoter and Marsh Harrier (yesterday, 8/9/24).

Two juvenile Black Terns also at Holme Pierrepont this afternoon, my first of the year, feeding over the a52 pit.
