It was fun to be a part of this giant review effort Journal of Evolutionary Biology discussing inversions and all of their complications. "How chromosomal inversions reorient the evolutionary process" doi.org/10.1111/jeb.14… Claire Mérot Rui Faria Esra Durmaz Mitchell @[email protected] Anja Westram & many more!

And a very interesting @ESEB progress meeting turned into an extensive review on chromosomal inversions! doi.org/10.1111/jeb.14… Great lead by E Berdan, T Flatt,K Johannesson, S Schaeffer, and a huge collective effort 🙂. We hope this piece will be useful for the community!

Urquhart-Cronish et al. model the eco-evolutionary range dynamics of life-history traits under density-dependent selection. They find that DD alters the extent of allele surfing & that population density is important for consequences of range expansion. journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/72…

My semi-annual login to Twitter to let you guys know about leze's latest cool work with me looking at ROHs and how they can be informative on sources of inbreeding and inferring selfing rates. Happy to hear any and all feedback, as it's both our first steps into ML!

I haven't read the Haidt book, and overall I think the current evidence is uncertain. But good grief, the discourse on here indicates something is fundamentally broken with how academics engage with ideas in the public. There so little substance beyond "Haidt sucks, lol".

I am looking for a PostDoc with a background in math/physics and a strong interest in biology (or vice versa). Are you excited about inversions and local adaptation? Want to live in Bern, hike in the alps and swim in the Aare? Come work with us! ohws.prospective.ch/public/v1/jobs…

Do you use Local Ancestry Inference (LAI)? Wanna know how much error to expect given source divergence or time since admixture? Wanna apply LAI to your aDNA study but have only one high-coverage ancient individual that could represent a specific ancestry? Check out our new paper:
