Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter run by CEOs who grew up in India. Wonderful to watch the amazing success of Indians in the technology world and a good reminder of the opportunity America offers to immigrants. 🇮🇳🇺🇸 (Congrats, Parag Agrawal!)

Braindump thread on 🇮🇳/math/acc after I spoke with many experts on this: At International Math Olympiad, Indian students do okay on number theory and algebra but struggle with geometry which "needs serious creativity that is tough to learn in regular school. Problem #6 in IMO is

As always the burden of this increased fee will end up being on the pockets of Indian born immigrants. These individuals were approved for a GreenCard more than a DECADE AGO, but US Congress uses USCIS to allow the exploitation of the immigrant workers from India.

Why only burden H-1B employers by asking them to pay $300M in asylum fee? Pretty sure AILA immigration lawyers will be glad to chip in $100M from their windfall fee revenue. What say AILA?

About 250K foreign workers, mostly int’l students are competing for the 85K cap subject H-1B lottery for the 2025 FY. Foreign workers, except those born in Ind/Chn, don’t need H-1B temp visas since they can directly get an employer sponsored or self-sponsored EB GC.

Isn’t the whole purpose of H-1Bs being subject to a multi-decade GC backlog is to let them self-deport at such testing times? And yet, why is USCIS and AILA industry trying to be so nice on X!?

WOW! Litigation on USCIS is going to be EPIC. Thread on what I think it means for the per-country cap that discriminates against Indian EB immigrants. Basics: Chevron doctrine in admin law mandates that courts defer to *reasonable* agency interpretations of ambiguous statutes /1

Staffing firms (H-1B bodyshops) outnumber outsourcing companies like TCS and Cognizant in H-1B visa share. Hopefully, staffing firms suffered a major setback after the recent H-1B lottery reform.
