It is very upsetting to us that police are wasting resources on chasing clients who have done nothing wrong against us but we aren't able to get help from them when we are in actual danger unless we are almost killed.

Full decriminalization is what's needed.

Sex workers in Sweden are being threatened and doxed if they don't agree to quit sex work. It doesn't matter that it's 'technically legal' to sell sex if any stranger can destroy your life by reporting your sex work to your landlord, social services, police, or other authorities.

The number of ways a sex worker can get harmed by the current Swedish law makes it clear that this law is not made to protect sex workers but to fight the existence of sex work at all costs.

Today one of our members was threatened with the procuring law by someone pretending to be a client.
They provided an email screenprint of contacting the police and said they would out our member to the landlord, social services and neighbours as well.

Under the Nordic Model, sx workers are more vulnerable to clients & have little recourse in holding them accountable when necessary. Under the NM, sx workers are more vulnerable to police & have no recourse in holding them accountable when necessary. Who is the NM for? Not us.

We’re pleased that the MA Joint Judiciary Committee this week voted not to advance the client criminalization bill out of committee.

We advocated hard against it, because we know this model harms sex workers.

Decriminalization doesn’t mean no regulations on employers, it means removal of criminal penalties. We still need labor protections in place within civil law.
