A remarkable story of a patient reunited with the transplant surgeon who saved her life at two years old. Dr Pankaj Chandak, a Hunterian Fellow, used 3D printed models to plan the complex procedure - which are now in the collection of the @ScienceMuseum.

On the 10 May 1941, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and the Hunterian Museum, sustained a direct hit from a bombing raid on London. Of 14,000 specimens from Hunter’s original collection, around 3000 survived, with the galleries being reduced to rubble.

Responding to NHS England cancelled operation stats, Prof Fiona Myint, The Royal College of Surgeons of England VP, said: “When an operation is cancelled for non-clinical reasons, we’re letting down patients. Many have lived with pain and discomfort for too long. That’s unacceptable.”
