It's only 50 days until this exhibition opens John Rylands Research Institute and Library In some ways it's a continuation of the work of Piston,Pen & Press ⛏️⚙️✍️📚 and it's been great working with Dr Janette Martin and others to put it all together. Hoping to do some events during the exhibition's run too - so watch this feed!
Keep meaning to say that the #WorkersPlaytime exhibition builds on work done with Piston,Pen & Press ⛏️⚙️✍️📚 project, so very pleased that the good people of John Rylands Research Institute and Library have popped a QR code with a link to the Piston, Pen & Press project on the acknowledgements board.
As we head towards the weekend - a reminder that #WorkersPlaytime exhibition is still on John Rylands Research Institute and Library details here: library.manchester.ac.uk/rylands/visit/… Also, there's a lovely review of the exhibition here: culturematters.org.uk/index.php/cult…
Also a reminder that there's a great exhibition celebrating the work of Sam Fitton GalleryOldham and Michael Sanders will be talking about Sam's plays at GalleryOldham on Weds 19 April at 2pm. galleryoldham.org.uk/sam-fitton-fin…
The PPT for tomorrow's talk on the great Sam Fitton GalleryOldham now done, I can look forward to the opportunity to sing the praises of an under-appreciated writer. "Give me the power to turn up the corners of the nation's mouth, then I care not who pinches its false teeth."
Another chance to hear Michael Sanders of this parish talking about work which has emerged out of this project.
Still time to apply for a fully funded PhD with the National Mining Museum, Scotland, and the University of Stirling on how 'coal famine' was represented in the press: jobs.ac.uk/job/CZZ739/phd… Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP)
Pleased to say that the Introduction to our special issue of Jnl.VictorianCulture has now been published - details at the link below. academic.oup.com/jvc/advance-ar…

A masterful sail across the currents of Victorian periodical poetry with Dr. Alison Chapman at the wheel 🌊⚓️ 🛳️ (see Digital Victorian Periodical Poetry) — very enthused by the argument to “unknow Victorian poetry” in order to make anew #RSVP23 #WolffLecture
