I'm very excited to announce that I'll be starting my lab at ISTAustria near Vienna this summer! The Bravo lab will be using enzyme kinetics and cryo-EM to study bacterial immunity. Read more here: bravo-lab.org
Finally our work on designing pH responsive antibody nanoparticles capable of disassembling at ~tunable~ pH, packaging and releasing cargo, and targeting specific cell surface receptors is out in NatureStructMolBiol! nature.com/articles/s4159…

🎉Congratulations to Assistant Professor @ArbelHarpak for being named a 2024 Pew Biomedical Scholar by The Pew Trusts to explore the drivers of sex differences within both humans and animals. pewtrusts.org/en/about/news-… Integrative Biology
Our #cryoET study of #RSV is out in Nature Communications!! rdcu.be/dNKAk Using #subtomogram averaging we show the matrix protein packs as a helical-like lattice. The Fusion gp arranges as F-trimer pairs & correlate w/the M lattice. Great work Bryan Sibert & coauthors!❄️🔬🦠
Now this paper is published in its final form. Thanks to Daniel and Ece for their hard work, and to our collaborators Bill Wimley William Wimley and Elena Pasquale.
These substitutions also provide enhanced thermostability and cellular expression, allowing complete structural characterization of the closed prefusion conformation via cryo-EM (kudos to Ling Zhou, Cory Acreman, and Jason McLellan) (PDB ID: 8VAO rcsb.org/structure/8VAO)
After pandemic delays/starting residency, I am THRILLED to finally get this paper out 🤗 a combo of my favorite things: pretty protein/antibody structures and a live Nipah experiment 🥰 (and working with Sope Oguntuyo) enjoy our latest w/ mAb92 🦠 #nipah journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jv…
Thank you to each of you who came to be our guest at the Award for Innovation in Healthcare and Bioscience. Handshakes, hugs, a shared meal, laughter and learning from an expert in his field, Jason McLellan It was a beautiful evening.
