.Zack Polanski on Labour's two-child benefit cap. "Our party has a very clear message for Kier Starmer, scrap the cap!" #GPConf #GPC24 #GreenPartyConference

An important moment for The Green Party. We can now clearly stand up for the rail infrastructure we need to connect the north*, get people out of planes and unclog our motorways. Well done! #GPC24 *and now we need to go further for the real north, to Newcastle and beyond!

🌍 Wonderful to see the ‘Letters from the Global South’ exhibition at The Green Party conference! Greens have long-supported the #CANBill—a core part of this travelling exhibition. We hope Greens will continue to do so in Westminster at this crucial moment for our campaign. 🌿

Enjoyed arriving back from Green Party conference (#GPC24) to Newcastle Central to see all the Great North Run (#GNR24) runners milling about with their foil cloaks and medals! Well done everyone. Making our region proud!

Why do the tough decisions disproportionately affect the poor? Why didn't we tax the rich cos, you know, they've never had it so good? Then we could've kept the winter fuel allowance and funded more public services

Zack Polanski (@zackpolanski) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Any Government has choices. This Labour Government are choosing to keep the child benefit cap and scrap winter fuel payments. They're choosing not to tax the wealth of the super rich. But, remember, you have choices too at the next election.

We have a legal right to safe water in workplaces, homes & public spaces. Why not clean air? People still being regularly killed & disabled by breathing poisonous air. Bad for people, productivity & the economy #Covid

It's hard to think of a more basic preventative measure than reducing the transmission of pathogens, particularly in healthcare.

Make winter fuel allowance universal, so nobody can fall through the cracks. But then tax back way more than that value from those rich enough not to need it, by increasing taxes on the richest (wealth, not income tax, so work isn't taxed more than unearned income).

Never before has my membership of The Green Party and Unite the union: join a union felt so in step. We desperately need to change the way that wealth is spread around in this country. For better public services, quality housing, green jobs and stronger communities: we need a #WealthTax

Labour are highly likely to introduce means-tested for Winter Fuel Payments later today, but this is an eye opening fact that I’ve not seen widely discussed. If the government’s estimates are wrong, this policy could well end up costing the government rather than saving! 👀

This promises to be a very timely and interesting discussion, exploring what impact climate protests and direct action have on our attempts to tackle climate change. Please come along next week to join the debate! XR Newcastle Universities 📚 Newcastle Green Party Cllr Nick Hartley Climate Action North

Darzi review pulls no punches: NHS harmed by "austerity in funding and capital starvation", the "disastrous" 2012 Act & "dire state" of social care system. Solutions require serious money, action on social care & no more pro-private sector fragmentation of our public service.
