On this date back in 1970, severe thunderstorms hammered Southeast Kansas. Coffeyville, Kansas was bombarded by a hailstone that measured 17.5 inches in circumference, 5.7 inches in diameter and weighed 1.67 pounds. #kswx

When do we typically experience our first cool-ish fall day, with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s? Usually between about September 14-24 for Wichita, about a week earlier for Salina and Russell, and 2-5 days later for Chanute and Independence. #kswx
