1930s Paddy Kearns recalls the walking saint of Artane Industrial School, Joe Golden, who brought food into Artane to feed the boys in the bakery. He would tell the Christian Brothers to get out of the bakery; you’re upsetting my boys. “They got us when we came out of the bakery”

I interviewed Maggie, she recalled Monto madam Becky Cooper. "I used to go to the pawnshop for Becky. When Monto was shut down (1925) she pawned everything she had. She would get drunk in the pub and end up thrown out onto the streets, she sometimes broke the pub's windows.”
