Exciting news! The first call recording of the Tanami Toadlet (Uperoleia micromeles) has been made with the app, 43 years since it was first described to science. Congrats to Dr Tim Henderson at Australian Wildlife Conservancy Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary! 🐸

One of the best snakes I've ever seen, and by far my top target of this recent trip to Borneo: an adult female Sumatran pit viper (Trimeresurus sumatranus), 1.2 meters of arboreal perfection.

I’m often asked, 'Red-bellies keep brown snakes away, don't they?' And my response is always, “Well, the relationship between individual snakes is complex & dynamic, being influenced by various factors...' And what you see in the images is precisely what I mean.

New research from Jodi Rowley and Damian Lettoof reveals that pesticides were present in more than one in three of the frogs tested.

But, the team don't believe pesticides were the main cause of the mass frog deaths.

Field ethologists, I highly recommend this bag for wildlife research. You could sit down anytime to score or record animal behavior. There’s an insulated cooler inside to keep the samples cool/equipment dry. This thing made my field days. 🏃‍♀️💚

Among the poisons found in 36% of the frogs tested, rodenticide was detected for the first time.

As Jodi Rowley (@UNSW) + Damian Lettoof (@CSIRO) write, pesticides are considered a threat to hundreds of amphibian species. theconversation.com/we-found-pesti…

New Lerista taxonomy paper out today in Zootaxa (10.11646/zootaxa.5437.3.2).

We sink Lerista arenicola, and all L. microtis subspecies, into L. microtis. We also highlight the challenges posed by past uses of the subspecies rank.

Dm me for a pdf.
