This has been a bad couple of days for UK political journalism. So much self-referential, unsubstantiated gossip. I got the gossip too, but you don't have to publish it. So much attention to undeclared results, so little analysis of policy. Such bad extrapolation.

Feels like there is a decent (face-saving) case for BBC News (UK) (& others) establishing guidelines on the reporting of speculation (i.e. party briefings) about mayoral election results in the period after polls have closed & before *anything* has been officially counted.

But no complacency.

We did it! For everybody in South Wales.

I am so grateful for all those who voted in the election and for all the support during this campaign.
