In the past weeks, I have visited Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Odesa and Mykolaiv 🇺🇦 together with our steadfast partners from 🇪🇺 🇦🇹 🇩🇰 🇫🇮and 🇨🇭. Again, I was moved and struck by the resilience and grit of ordinary women & men who have been through incredibly painful and scary

During my visits to Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv & Kyiv regions over the past 2 weeks, I have seen so many destroyed homes. Where families used to go to sleep and wake up, feeling safe and relaxed, in the protection of their 🏡. Now, these ruins are associated with shock & loss.

I am in #Ukraine in solidarity with people whose lives are shattered daily by Russian attacks. It has been tough recently. I started my visit at #Okhmatdyt pediatric hospital. No place should be more protected than a hospital for children. Yet, it was hit by a missile on 8 July.

I had a meaningful meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi. The main topics of discussion were humanitarian support for Ukraine and assistance in preparing for the winter period. I am grateful for the support provided to our country and our people.

Today in Kharkiv🇺🇦 Filippo Grandi saw a power plant heavily damaged by🇷🇺attacks, handed 10+ generators to help keep services running & emphasized the importance of supporting 🇺🇦 authorities to restore energy generation capacity ahead of the upcoming winter:t.ly/89Sk9

UNHCR's Filippo Grandi also visited a woman living in a recently attacked apartment building + met families living in a collective site after being evacuated from frontline areas that came under 🇷🇺 offensive in May 2024.

The key messages conveyed by all: ➡️people want & are determined to stay in their🏡 ➡️Ukrainians🇺🇦& authorities have the capacity to rebuild what’s been destroyed ➡️given the scale of the destruction & winter coming, the international community needs to support this effort NOW
