I am thankful to the team who has been working tirelessly to conduct these extensive tests over the past few months. I look forward to the next major milestone when we determine if the project is go to proceed to launch.

Exciting news from the International Space Station! Researchers have produced cellulose from bacteria (K. hansenii) cultured in microgravity for four weeks, paving the way for using bacterial cellulose in materials for construction, clothing, and energy production: nasa.gov/centers-and-fa…

A gorgeous #SolarFlare is currently in progress on the Sun! Clocking in at an M5 level, this flare would have been larger if not obscured by the Sun’s edge. Check out those stunning high-altitude downflows! I’ll post a longer movie when the flare is over. #spaceweather

Fine art decorated the halls and rooms throughout #TITANIC, but beauty is a delicate thing. Much of TITANIC’s fine art was made of organic materials, breaking down into the earth after many decades submerged in the hostile environment of the #NorthAtlantic.

Two underwater robots explored #Titanic this summer. You can see the railings firmly in place in 2010 - but compare this to the image taken a few weeks ago.

Here’s a lidar picture too - the first shows the deck of the ship, the second shows the railings on the seafloor next to the wreck.

The full evolution of today’s mesmerising #SolarFlare, which continued for over 12 hours! This is a very long duration event, as most flares are over well within an hour of onset. Just look at those flare loops grow! Awe-some stuff. #spaceweather #astronomy

#Iceberg #A23a update. Still spinning on the spot. That's five months now trapped in the Taylor Column above Pirie Bank. Turn rate is much the same: ~15 degrees per day.

This stuff isn’t easy. When Lockheed Martin UK selected ABL for its “UK Pathfinder Launch” from Saxavord, we thought a fair wind might see the mission lift off in 2022. As ever, everything in space moves to the right.

☄️💥Woah! Newly discovered 1-1.5m asteroid 2024 RW1 (spotted by near-Earth asteroid hunters in the US) burns up above the Philippines just hours after it was first seen. This asteroid wasn’t a risk. But if it was, a duck-and-cover warning was possible.
