I agree with issues raised in the SPRC report including the development being well under the allowable density and a poor pedestrian/bike experience within the site. A two-way sidewalk-level cycle track is proposed for S Joyce St. Big improvement over current conditions:

Units are on the scene of a vehicle into a building in the 400 blk of 12th St S. Units arrived to find a single vehicle into the structure. One patient has been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Units remaining on scene awaiting a building inspector.

The intersection pictured in the article was the subject of my first Transportation Safety Investigation request back in 2019. I lived near 9th & N Quincy when it was a chaotic two-way stop. Glad DES eventually changed their minds by 2023!

I welcome the shorter-term sidewalk improvements but hope we can reimagine S Carlin Springs Road with the 2026-2027 corridor study. A lot of road diet research and case studies available. Wider sidewalks+buffer rather than bike lanes would be possible with a 4-3 conversion.
