Caregiving is isolating but there are ways to combat that. Make a list of who is on your team: online support, family, friends, neighbors, agencies, med personnel, employers. Write down everyone who is even a small support. Your team might be bigger than you think! #caregiving

You don't have to resolve an issue on your own. If your loved one is in a facility and there are problems not being addressed, contact the Ombudsman. In the hospital? Contact the Patient Relations Dept for help. This is another member of your team! #caregivingteam

Is a sibling good with finances or do you have a friend who has patience to deal with agencies? They may not be able to help 24/7 but they can help you a little. Find the people who can help and use them. Don't be afraid to switch things up if they are not helpful after all.

An online support group can be a huge part of your caregiving team. Not all will be the right fit so keep looking for one that resonates with you and you feel safe sharing in. #caregivingteam

YOU are your biggest supporter. No one else is going to look after you and make decisions that are best for you. YOU have to look after yourself. What can you change that will be good for you? #caregiving

We’ve all been there. Somebody asks you what do you do? Saying that you’re a caregiver doesn’t tell them anything but if you started with a list that looks like this, they would be shocked. Notice how few things are on this list that you do for you. #caregiving

You can’t control what somebody else does, but you can control your reaction to their behavior. You can’t control the world, but you can turn off the news. Control what you can. #caregiving

You don’t have to accept every invitation to a family gathering, to meet someone for coffee or lunch, or to attend holiday celebrations. #caregiving

There are things in your life that just aren’t working. Some of them you can’t get rid of but others you have the power to remove or change. It’s up to you to make that decision. What are you going to do to improve the quality of your life? #life #caregiving

No one is going to understand what you might be going through as much as someone else who is going through it or has been through that situation. #caregiving #support

Of course you need to be careful about your sun exposure and make sure you take water with you but if you can get out in the sun for a little while, do so and enjoy it! #caregiving

Caregivers are known to overfill our baskets but, eventually, something has to give. Oftentimes, it is our own health. See what small changes you can make so your load is more sustainable. #caregiving #HappyEaster

The asks will keep coming from your family, employer, organizations and friends. They won't stop asking. Only you know how much you can take on so set the boundaries you are comfortable with. #caregiving

We know what we have to do but can't always make changes. Be gentle with yourself and don't add guilt to your feelings of overwhelm. #caregiving

Spoon theory is a way of describing the amount of physical or mental energy you have for your daily activities and tasks. When you run out of spoons, you run out of energy. #caregiving

When a loved one is in a precarious health situation, you can pray for them and beg them to do certain things, but you only have so much control. You may find it beneficial to talk with a spiritual leader or counselor during this time. #caregiving

Big decisions require careful thought and consideration. When possible give yourself some time to think about that decision. #caregiving

We all need that person that we can talk to & vent or dump everything to when we talk. It definitely needs to be somebody who’s not going to throw what you say back in your face or tell other people about it. Maybe it’s a friend or maybe it’s a counselor of some type. #caregiving
